It's okay that in the past three days I've managed to give myself a splinter from a wooden spoon, cut my finger from the edge of a cardboard box, cut another finger in between my front door and lock (it doesn't even seem possible to damage youself from the above mentioned items, does it? Only in my world...), and give myself a nose bleed from blowing my nose a little too hard.
It's okay that I've gained some serious weight in the past couple months (at least in my opinion), and that now my face is starting to look more like a pear and that my thighs are looking a lot like tree trunks.
It's okay that in the past week I've averaged around 5 hrs. of sleep/night while trying to get everything done that needed to be done and that tonight looks like it will be about the same.
The only thing keeping my spirits up and my mouth smiling is the fact that I'm only 1-1 away...Woo-hoo!!!

When life hands you crap
If it's true that it's good luck when a bird lets loose on you, then I must be super lucky because for the second time this year I got hit. In the middle of chinatown, amongst the millions of people along Canal St., I was the lucky one that got to have my head and jacket crapped on. It's gross enough to be crapped on period, but to get it in your hair and on your black velvet blazer is crap to a whole new level, especially when you're on your way to eat lunch. Ahhh....but that just seems to be the story of my life. When things finally seem to be going okay and bam...s'more crap.
My top 5 crap highlights from this week:
1) Being crapped on - literally, and having to walk around with crap residue (that wouldn't come off in the bathroom) for 5 hrs. around the city before coming home.
2) Working from 8AM-1AM on a Friday....once again! Grand total btw M-F = 68hrs.
3) Oversleeping my alarm 3 days in a row and mad-dashing to make up for lost time.
4) Having to wake up every day (weekend included) before 8AM after a 'less than 5 hrs. of sleep' night
5) Missing out on a much anticipated friend's Christmas party due to extreme overexhaustion and knowing that tomorrow it'll be non-stop from 6:45AM-9PM.

14-9
After leaving work last night at 11:15PM (working 15 hrs straight 3 days in a row is no way to live) and feeling wiped and void of all feeling (both in a physical and mental state), I got home, took care of a couple things (showering included....seriously, I've never felt more like a jungle animal in my life....I had planned to shower yesterday morning but due to a serious case of oversleeping my alarm by 45 mins. I had no time to fly out the door), and then passed out only to realize this morning that once again I had overslept by almost 30 mins. and that I was on the verge of being really late. I know that some people believe that white hair is genetic, but in my case I think it's all stress related. On the subway commute to work I kept on thinking that any second my hairs were all going to turn platinum as I hung onto the pole for dear life while being squashed by the growing crowd (it's a good thing I'm not clausterphobic because I think I might die in this city otherwise). To make matters worse, our intern decided not to show up this morning and after 3 attempts to call him, and 1 voicemail, I find myself multi-tasking like a maniac. Sometimes I think it's a miracle that I haven't officially gone insane yet or perhaps I'm just in deep denial.
All I can say at this point is that I've got 14 days before 2004 freedom and 9 days of work till then. Vacation never sounded sweeter.

New beginnings
What a rough ride this past week has been. Between the 24-hr flu that I had and almost passing out in the subway to discovering my first white hair yesterday (in the past they have always turned out to be blonde, but this time it was the real thing), I feel as though I've really been given a wake up call.
Who am I and who do I want to be? Am I really living each day out to the fullest or am I just taking it all forgranted?
Time doesn't stand still but sometimes I feel as though I do...stuck in a funk. It's only December but I'm already thinking of all my resolutions for the upcoming year. I've never felt a greater need to change before. Change my lifestyle, change my attitude, change my priorities.
It's just time...
