mission: de-bug

as i sat at the kitchen table tonight, i suddenly saw something moving out of the corner of my eye and discovered a dragonfly had made its way into our apartment. i am terrified of most bugs (pretty much everything minus fruit flies), and upon seeing the length of this bug's body, thick legs, and wing span, i was pretty freaked out. i quickly alerted my roomie, doris, about the situation at hand and we banded together to brainstorm strategies to get our unwelcome guest to leave.

after re-opening the patio door to the balcony and patiently waiting for the pest to leave voluntarily, it became clear that we would need to try new tactics. what we ended up with was a swiffer broom, a chair for added height, and a can of scrubbing bubbles. it was quite the team effort as i sprayed the bug to debilitate it and then doris finished it off with the swiffer. though i did feel bad for the bug (what a way to go), it was also such a relief to not have a giant-sized bug around anymore. mission completed.

on a side note, mosquitoes have been feasting on my blood over the last couple of days. my count now stands at 5, with 1 twice the size of a quarter and man, do they itch! though i do love the summer, i have to say that i hate mosquitoes and wish they'd just leave me alone. perhaps it's karma from the dragonfly mission. argh.
